Simple things can cause unexpectedly significant issues. Nowhere is this more obvious than when it comes to owning a home. Take for example the simple exhaust vent on the average clothes dryer, which could cause two significant issues.

The first is moisture damage. An average load of wet laundry has about a gallon of water in it. When you throw that load of laundry into your dryer, where do you think that gallon of water goes? It’s expelled from the exhaust vent as steam. If the exhaust vent of your dryer is pointed indoors, that’s a gallon of moisture getting trapped in your laundry room, which can cause serious issues.

The second is a fire hazard. The duct that’s attached to a dryer exhaust is intended to point straight out of your house. If there are sharp bends or turns in its’ path outside, lint or other debris can get caught inside the duct and they can be extremely flammable.
