While we know it’s important to keep your kitchen clean, the kitchen hood and exhaust fan are often overlooked when cleaning the kitchen. This appliance is designed to filter airborne grease, fumes, and smoke – so it’s important to take the time to clean it regularly. Here are a few kitchen hood cleaning tips to follow:
- The first step should always be to remove your filters from the range hood. Carefully take a look at the filter on the underside of your range to determine how to remove it.
- Fill your sink with hot water. The hotter the better. You’re going to submerge the filters into the water, so make sure you have enough.
- Add baking soda and dish soap to the hot water and mix it well. Place the filters in the water and soak them for at least 15 minutes.
- Next, you want to scrub the filters. Once you can get them as clean as you think they’re going to be, turn on the water and rinse the filters. Gently dry the filters with a soft cloth.
- Be sure to repeat this cleaning of your filters monthly, or if you cook frequently, you want to clean the filters much more often.
