While we all know that a trimmed lawn is far more appealing, simply mowing the lawn can damage the grass, and in turn, the health of your entire garden! So while most have a very regular schedule of mowing the lawn to keep it as neat as possible, it might be wise to hold back at times.

If you were to mow your lawn too often, you’d be taking away the blade’s ability to absorb sunlight, the very life source of grass. These blades also shade the ground, slowing the growth of weeds, and trapping moisture in the soil. The ideal way to counteract this is by setting your mower to a specific length. While climates differ, a length of around three inches, or slightly less, is generally found to be the sweet spot. Doing so could keep our grass healthy and green, while still appearing tidy. This may also help the soil maintain moisture and improve the health of any other plants in it.
