When you open a faucet in your bathroom, how is the pressure? Perhaps you are unhappy with it not having enough pressure, but in reality, you should be more concerned when the pressure is too high. Why is that? Well, if you are paying for water, using a lot of water is going to cost you more. Another concern is that of wasting a natural resource that could very well run low in the future. The amount of water that comes out of your faucet is referred to as flow rate, and a standard flow rate would be around one gallon per minute. If you want to measure what your flow rate is, all you need to do is to see how long it would take to fill up a gallon with the faucet open all the way. If the flow rate is too high, you might want to consider installing an aerator on your faucet. This will allow you to have good pressure while using less water.
