Toilet seats see a lot of wear and tear. Considering how much time the average person spends on the toilet, it is understandable that your toilet seat could become loose and wobbly. As long as it isn’t the entire toilet that is rocking but just the actual seat, you could replace it fairly easily. Toilet seats are among the few things in life that are fairly consistent. You will find that most of them have the exact same mount for the seat – two bolts and that is it.
The only thing you need to pay attention to is whether or not your seat is elongated, since it might look a little odd to have the wrong type of seat attached to the opposite type of toilet.
To remove your old seat, you might need to pop off a cap that is on top of the bolts. After you remove them you can place the new seat and fasten it using the bolts that come with it. The only caution to keep in mind is that porcelain is fragile and over-tightening the bolts could cause serious damage to your toilet.
